Students may sometime experience a problem accessing Schoology assignments that are linked via Google Drive.

This is usually due to the student not permitting access to their Google Drive when initially prompted and results in the following error message:

We had some trouble opening your document. Try again by reloading the page.


Solution #1

  1. While the error is displayed, open a new tab in the student's web browser. Have the student go to: https://lti-submission-google.app.schoology.com/authorize/logout (Short URL for convenience: http://bit.ly/cca-google-logout) and follow the directions on screen.
  2. Close all tabs.
  3. Open a new tab and return to the original assignment.
  4. Upon going back to the Google Assignment in Schoology, they should be prompted to log back in. The document should now display properly as should future documents.

Solution #2

  1. Have the student go to their main Google Homepage > Click their icon in the top right corner > Manage Your Google Account > Security > Third-party apps with account access > Manage 3rd Party Access 
  2. Click anything that says Schoology > Remove Access.
  3. Upon going back to the Google Assignment in Schoology, they should be prompted to log back in. The document should now display properly as should future documents.
