The CCA School District implemented a new ESI phone system during the 2022 - 2023 school year. One of the main functions of the new system, besides ease of use and more unique technologies built into the phones, was the upcoming standardization of E911, aka Enhanced 9-1-1.

In short, the E911 works like a traditional 911 call: Reaching out to an emergency dispatcher; however, the enhanced protocol adds location services to the process. For example, when someone calls 911, you must give your location information, or services could get routed to an incorrect or generalized location. Under E911, your location is transmitted to the dispatcher, sending the location address and even the room within the building where the call originated.
