Three 1:1 device candidates were chosen following a one month pilot program at the Middle School. During this pilot program the Creek Squad helped to compare seven devices and eight styles of cases, bags and sleeves. The Creek Squad members logged their input via an online form and met with the technology department at least once per week to go over that feedback in greater depth. The Acer C720-2844 was chosen based on reviews from other schools, technical specifications and input from the pilot program.
The Acer C720 was selected as the model most suited to the needs of a 1:1 program at CCAMS. This model offers the most up to date processor available in a chromebook, 4GB of system memory, long battery life and a small form factor suitable for use on school desks.
The chosen case, the MAX Explorer 1140 from Max Cases, was the most popular model during the pilot program by a wide margin. This case offers excellent device protection due to its semi rigid construction and device padding. It also affords some additional features requested by the Creek Squad including both a shoulder strap and handle, a card slot for device identification and small amount of internal storage space.
