CCAHS Pilot Program

Prior to deploying the full 1:1 program to all students at the High School, we will running a pilot program with a limited number of students and teachers. This will allow both faculty and students to evaluate various models of chromebook for use in classrooms. The pilot program will run for four weeks with students and teachers changing chromebooks approximately once per week. During each week, the technology department will meet with the pilot participants to get in-depth feedback on each case/cover and chromebook model. The technology department will also use the pilot program to test related infrastructures such as printing, wireless network support, filtering, and google apps domain configurations as they relate to the 1:1 program.

Goals

1. Gather feedback on and test multiple potential chromebook models.
   1. Test durability and determine common faults and failure modes.
   2. Check compatibility with currently used programs and websites.
   3. Evaluate form factor and hardware:
      1. Screen size
      2. Screen resolution (clarity)
      3. System speed (processor and ram)
      4. Wireless performance
      5. Battery Life
      6. Extra Features (Touch, SD Card etc.)
      7. Accessibility
      8. Weight
2. Gather feedback on and test multiple potential cases and covers.
   1. Durability
   2. Protection
   3. Ease of use
   4. Style preference
3. Allow teachers to gain hands on exposure to the Chrome operating system students will be using in the 1:1 program.
   1. Gain understanding of limits of Chrome OS versus full computers.
   2. Consider implications of the chromebooks on current curriculum. 
4. Allow the technology department to test infrastructure and support technology configurations and hardware.
