Two 1:1 device candidates were chosen following a one month pilot program at the high school. During this pilot program 14 students and seven teachers helped to test and compare eight models of chromebooks and eight cases or sleeves. Students and teachers both logged their input via an online form and met with the technology department at least once per week to go over that feedback in greater depth. The Toshiba Chromebook 2 was chosen based on technical specifications and highly positive feedback from the pilot program.
The Toshiba Chromebook 2 was chosen for use in the high school one-to-one program. This model offers the most up to date processor available in a chromebook, 4GB of system memory, long battery life, and a desirable form factor for high school use.
The chosen case, the Basic 13" from Amazon, was the most popular model during the pilot program by a wide margin. This case offers excellent device protection due to device padding. It also affords some additional features that were found to be useful in the middle school one-to-one program including both a shoulder strap and handle, and increased internal storage space.
