Step-by-step guide

Epson Interactive Pens Setup:

  1. You will need to make sure to have a USB A cable, and plug one end into the projector (usually a port on the wall for the newer schools) and the other into the white adapter. 

  2. Go to the CCA App Kiosk on your computer and install Epson Easy Interactive Driver. 

  3. Once that’s complete, go to System Preferences -> Privacy & Security -> Privacy and give Epson Easy Interactive Driver the ability to access the computer. If a popup window appears asking you for permission, it’ll have one button that takes you to that spot in System Preferences, and you can enable it from there. 

  4. Go to Applications->Easy Interactive Driver folder and open the application. 



Troubleshooting for Epson Pens:

If the pens don’t seem to respond or move the mouse, you will need to recalibrate. 

For Manual Calibration

  1. Press the Menu button, select the Extended menu, and press Enter.

  2. Select the Easy Interactive Function setting and press Enter.

  3. Select Manual Calibration and press Enter.

  4. Adjust the image focus, if necessary.
  5. Press Enter to select Yes. A flashing green circle appears in the upper left corner of your projected image.
  6. Touch the center of the circle with the tip of the pen. The circle disappears, and you see another circle below the first one.


    Note: For the most accurate calibration, make sure you touch the center of the circle.
  7. Touch the center of the next circle, then repeat. When you get to the bottom of the column, the next circle appears at the top of a new column.


Note: Make sure you are not blocking the signal between the pen and the interactive receiver (next to the projection window on the projector). If you make a mistake, press the Esc button on the remote control to go back to the previous circle. To restart the calibration process, press and hold the Esc button for 2 seconds.

 

8. Continue until all of the circles disappear.


For Auto Calibration

  1. Press the Menu button, select the Extended menu, and press Enter.

  2. Select the Easy Interactive Function setting and press Enter.

  3. Select Auto Calibration and press Enter.

  4. Adjust the image focus, if necessary.
  5. Press Enter to select Yes. A pattern appears then disappears, and the system is calibrated. If you see a message that calibration failed, you need to calibrate manually.

Note: The cursor location and pen position should match after calibration. If not, you may need to calibrate manually.



 

Other Things to Note:

  • Make sure that the pens have batteries that are fully charged (if the side button light doesn’t light up, that’s an indication the batteries need to be charged/replaced)

  • Make sure that there’s nothing on the board to interfere with the usage of pens

  • If the pens are glitchy, this might mean you have the wrong type of pen. There are two different types of pen-- felt tip and plastic tip. If they start scribbling in the wrong places (AKA super glitchy) and you know that you have the right type of pen, it might be time to replace the pen.
