Chromebook updates should be done automatically from time to time; however, sometimes the update does not get applied properly. In these instances, you may need to manually update your Chromebook. These instructions will help you get the update downloaded and implemented.

How to update Chromebooks

  1. Click the bottom right corner of the Chrome OS desktop. (Students may move the Chrome Menu)

       2. Select the Settings icon.

(NOTE: Depending on your version, you may not need to click that button, it may show “About Chrome OS” on the bottom left corner, which is the next step)

     3. Now you'll see if your Chromebook is up to date or not!

     4. If your Chromebook is NOT up to date, it will download the available update.

4a. If it IS up to date, it will show a blue check mark, meaning you are already good to go

5. Once it finishes, you'll see a Restart button on the right side of the window

6. Click Restart and you are good to go!
